By REY DANSECO

Reigning OPBF light flyweight champion and WBC #5 contender Jonathan “Lightning” Taconing (20-2-1, 17 KOs) forced Oscar Raknafa (12-8-0, 5 KOs) to quit on his stall after fourth round on Sunday night in Manila’s Sucat, Paranaque City, Philippines.

Taconing’s next fight will be the WBC light flyweight title eliminator against either second ranked Ganigan Lopez or former WBC world light flyweight champion and top four contender Adrian Hernandez both of Mexico.

The winner will then be the mandatory challenger to the survivor of No. 1 contender Pedro Guevarra against No. 3 Akira Yaegashi championship on Dec. 30 in Japan.

Taconing was set to defend his title in Japan on Dec. 21 against Atsushi Kakutani (14-4-1 8 KOs). The Japanese promoter cancelled the fight for lack of funds and sponsors.
